What Your Child Will Learn:

Mural Design Concepts: Understanding how to create impactful mural designs using shapes, colors, and themes.
Digital Art with Canva: Your child will explore Canva, a powerful design tool, to turn their ideas into digital artwork.
Stencil Creation with Cricut: Watch your child’s designs come to life as they use the Cricut machine to create stencils for their murals.
Video Editing with Capcut: Your child will document their progress and learn video editing skills to create a final project video.

Beyond the technical skills of mural painting, students will gain confidence in their creative expression, learn to collaborate on large-scale projects, and understand how art can positively influence their community. They'll also leave with a digital portfolio of their work, showcasing their journey and the final mural.

Program Schedule:

Start Date: Saturday, October 12th, 2024
End Date: Saturday, November 16th, 2024
Time: Every Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Location: Imhotep Academy, H Building Art Room

This 6-week program will take place every Saturday, with students gradually progressing from design concepts to mural painting and video editing.

Week-by-Week Outline:

October 12th (Week 1): Introduction & Mural Design
Overview of mural painting, design principles, and theme brainstorming. Start creating designs in Canva.
October 19th (Week 2): Finalizing Designs & Cricut Templates
Refine designs, transfer to Cricut for stencils, and create templates.
October 26th (Week 3): Wall Prep & Mural Start
Prepare walls (sanding, priming) and begin painting. Start recording the process for Capcut.
November 2nd (Week 4): Mural Painting (Part 2)
Continue painting and recording details for video editing.
November 9th (Week 5): Finishing Touches & Recording
Complete painting, finalize video recordings, and learn Capcut editing.
November 16th (Week 6): Video Editing & Mural Reveal
Finish mural and video edits. Host a reveal event to showcase both the mural and video.

Meet Your Instructor

Bobbi Jones is a self-taught artist with a deep appreciation for the arts, cultivated from an early age through her father's work as an art collector in Los Angeles, CA. Her passion for art led her to become an art instructor, where she has been inspiring students at Imhotep Academy for over seven years. During her time there, she has painted murals, created backdrops for school performances and several custom art pieces.

In addition to her work at Imhotep Academy, Bobbi created Paint and Peel, a creative twist on the traditional paint and sip experience. Through Paint and Peel she continues to share her love for art in new and innovative ways.
